privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard
information when you use our Shopify app.
Information We Collect
Store Information
When you install Variant Badges, we collect and store:
- Your Shopify store domain
- Access tokens for API authentication
- Product information (titles, variants, options)
- Badge assignments you create
- App settings and preferences

Subscription status and billing information (plan type, billing dates)
Cookies and Local Storage
We use standard browser storage technologies to provide a better experience:

Local Storage: Used to remember when you dismiss "Pro
Tips" or onboarding banners in the app dashboard, so they don't reappear
unnecessarily.

Session Storage: Used to generate anonymous session
identifiers for our internal analytics to understand how badges are
performing.
Customer Information
We do not collect, store, or process any customer personal
data.
Our app only works with product variant information and does not access
customer names, emails, addresses, or any personally identifiable
information.
Analytics Information
To help improve the app and understand badge effectiveness, we collect
anonymous usage data:
- Badge interaction events (clicks and views on product pages)
- Product IDs and variant IDs where badges are displayed
- Badge types used (HOT, NEW)
- Timestamps of badge interactions

Anonymous session identifiers (no connection to customer identity)
Important: This data is completely anonymous and cannot
be linked to individual customers. We only track which products and badges
receive interactions, not who is interacting with them.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Variant Badges app functionality
- Display badges on your product variants as configured
- Save your badge assignments and settings
- Authenticate API requests to your Shopify store
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely in an encrypted PostgreSQL database hosted on
Railway. We use industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure database connections
- JWT-based authentication
- Regular security updates
Data Retention
We retain your store data only while you have the app installed. When you
uninstall Variant Badges:
- All badge assignments are immediately deleted
- All app settings are immediately deleted
- All access tokens are immediately revoked and deleted
Third-Party Services
Variant Badges uses the following third-party services:

display badges

Railway: For secure hosting of our application and
database
We do not share your data with any other third parties.

collect information from children.
